She is best known for her role on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's sitcom Ashley Banks. At age four she began singing and was soon able get some attention through her mother's request for permission to send her to Sesame Street auditions. When she was just six years old she began acting on Sesame Street's children's educational television show. She performed in many Broadway productions that were staged in New York City, including Fences (with James Earl Jones as well as later Billy Dee Williams) and Orfeo del Campo (off-Broadway). When she was seven, she won Star Search. She received the rating of four stars when she returned for the second time.
