Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY born on March 17, 1988) is professionally known as Grimes is a Canadian musician, singer, music producer, and songwriter. The early work of her is described as stretching to "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influences from electronic music hip hop, and rock. Her lyrics often focus on sci-fi themes and feminist themes. There have been five albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver, and then moved to Montreal around 2000. Grimes started releasing her songs as a solo artist during the 2000s. There were 2 albums that were issued through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa in 2010. Later, she signed with 4AD and rose to prominence after the release of her third album, Visions which came out in the year 2012. Visions comprises the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" and won the Canadian industry's Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. Her fourth studio album Art Angels was released in the year 2015. The album was praised from critics and many journals voted it as the top album. In 2020, she debuted Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes, who is also an actress and judge on Alter Ego's musical competitions had a role as singer on the album Cyberpunk 2077 which was released in 2020.
